Where Can I Attend the Traditional Mass?

          The Traditional Latin Mass...

...was called "the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven" by the English convert and Oratorian priest, Fr. Frederick Faber.  Unchanged in any of its essentials for fifteen centuries, it appeals to many Catholics - young and old - who have found in this Mass the most fitting expression of Catholic worship.

The dignity and solemnity of the ancient Roman Rite provides a "sense of the sacred", while the rich treasury of prayers, actions, and symbols exemplify the unchanging Catholic teaching on the Sacrifice of the Mass and the Holy Eucharist.

In The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, encompassing all of Rhode Island, the traditional Latin Mass has been offered regularly since 1994 at Holy Name of Jesus Church.  Since Pope Benedict's motu proprio Summorum Pontificum took effect on 14 September 2007 this classical Roman Rite has also been offered monthly at the Church of St. Leo the Great in Pawtucket.  Several other parishes are expected to begin regularly scheduled traditional Masses in 2008.

We are most grateful to Bishop Thomas J. Tobin for his encouragement and support.
